Members of staff at a leading law firm have donated a stack of clothing, toiletries and other everyday essentials to the New Futures Project.
Howes Percival invited us to their local office, at the Osiers Business Centre on the outskirts of the city, to collect their donation earlier this week.
We are so grateful to them for their wonderful generosity. It’s a real gesture of solidarity with the women we support.
As ever, we will ensure the donated items go to women who need them most.
Helen Sharp, fundraising, events and PR manager at the project, said: "Howes Percival is a well-known local legal firm who do great things for the community.
"We are lucky to have had the pleasure of being introduced through our friends in The Rotary and are blown away with the donations we have been gifted.
"We truly value our growing number of community friends, and are keen to continue to work together for a long time.
"If you are a local business and want to get in touch in ways you can help, please contact us via the website.”
A growing number of individuals, businesses and community groups are supporting the New Futures Project in any way they can.
If you would like to donate items to us, here's a rough idea of what we need:
Women’s underwear - specifically pants and socks
Women’s trainers or other comfortable footwear
Women’s coats, jumpers and cardigans
General women’s clothing (sizes 8-12 are the most popular)
Women’s toiletries - shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and deodorant
Feminine hygiene products
Make-up or unwanted skin care products
Antibacterial hand gel and feminine wipes
Tampons and sanitary towels
Toothpaste and toothbrush
Sleeping bags and bedding, including quilts, sheets and pillows
Art supplies for our therapy sessions, such as drawing paper, paints, pencils, modelling clay, wool or fabric
Contact us and we will be happy to tell you how to make a donation or support us in any other way, for example as a volunteer or by representing the project in a sponsored event such as a fun-run.
The New Futures Project offers a comprehensive welfare and counselling service for women and young people dealing with sexual abuse or exploitation, domestic violence, trafficking, poverty and debt, substance use or mental ill-health.
