The National Lottery has been a great supporter of the New Futures Project over the years, helping us help women and young people build lives free of abuse, exploitation and social exclusion.
Most recently, its Reaching Communities Fund awarded us £614,000 to ensure our life-changing work with our most vulnerable clients can continue.
This will support our work with two particular groups – women involved in sex work and young people aged 18 to 25 who are at risk of sexual exploitation – for the next four years.
In response, our director Della Kagure Brown decided to write personally to the Lottery people who agreed the award.
To the members of the Reaching Communities England board, Della writes.
I would like to thank you for the very generous award you made to our project.
I have been involved with the organisation for 24 years and during that time have been privileged to see it develop from a small project to the independent charity it is today.
It has been the most rewarding role I could imagine.
But it has also been 24 years of struggling to source and apply for funding, always aware of how time limited that is and constantly worrying that the time may come when the funding will run out and the charity will not be able to continue.
Your grant has changed that. The grant you have awarded means that our client work is secure, and gives us the time and resources to develop our plans to increase the charity’s earned income.
There is a lot of hard work ahead but you have given us the opportunity to make our small local charity sustainable well into the future.
I cannot thank you enough. The services we provide are so much in demand, now more than ever and thanks to your grant, generations of women in our community will get the support they need to change their lives.
On behalf of all of our staff team, trustees, volunteers and most importantly our present and future clients,
Thank You.
Sincerely
Della Kagure Brown
