Congratulations to our dear friend Rose and her new husband Malcolm – two people who mean an awful lot to us

Updated: Feb 4

A wonderful thing has happened, a dream come true for two people who are very dear to us here at New Futures.

Rose and Malcolm married at Leicestershire Register Office, in Glenfield on Friday, September 20.

We have known Rose for many years and have been privileged to play a small part in her story.

After a long and challenging journey we are delighted she has finally been able to marry the man who has been a constant support to her. In fact, she credits Malcolm with changing her life.

Rose is a member of The New Futures Project management committee and remains closely involved with us even while she is studying for a degree at Leicester University.

We are all so very proud of Rose for all she has achieved and we wish her and Malcolm every success for the future.

Rose told us: “I am so grateful to all at New Futures for all the support which has been highly appreciated. They have held my hand throughout my journey and will always be in my heart.”

Malcolm added: “I will  always be grateful for the support Rose has received from the project and she will always treasure everyone involved.”

Our director Della Kagure Brown said: “It has been an amazing journey and there were so many times Rose could have given up – but her strength and her tenacity pulled her through.

“Her story has been inspirational and I’m so glad it ended well.

“However, we know Rose was lucky to have Malcolm in her life and my thoughts today are also with those women who are fighting the system without  the benefit of support. I hope they too have a happy ending.”

Our assistant director, Maggie Brown said: “I will start with Malcolm. What a guy. A quiet unassuming man, a calm demeanour and very observant. A man who has fought a system that he at one point believed supported the needy and was fair and just.

“Well, they let Rose down and he fought back hard.

“They say its always the quiet ones. A faithful, loyal, determined and strong partner.

“I believe Rose picked a true champion who loves her truly, madly, deeply. I am honoured to know him.

“Rose, you are strong, vulnerable, intelligent and, my word, resilient. I am in awe of your strength, given all the hurdles you faced and overcame.

“If I could take a little of that resolve and strength you showed for all that time, bottled and sold it, I’d be a millionaire.

“You are truly inspirational. Be happy and no looking back. You earned it.”
