We are getting very excited as the Leicester 10k road race gets ever closer. The event comes to the city on Sunday, March 2.
As we said last week, we are very proud to have a team representing the New Futures Project on the day. This is a first for us and we are very excited, not to mention, grateful to our runners.
Today, we can share links to their individual sponsorship pages on the justgiving.com website.
Please, if you can, sponsor one or more more of them. Every penny they raise will support our work with some of the most socially excluded women and young people in our community.
Previously, our director Della Kagure Brown said: "We're delighted people have signed up to run the Leicester 10k on behalf of the project.
"This is the first time we have asked anyone to do this for us. It's a huge step for the project, so these people will always be special to us because they are the first."
Our runners are:
Helen Sharp, fundraising, marketing and PR manager at the project, also said previously: “We will be supporting the running team along the route and sharing information about what we do.
"We’d love to see as many of you as possible so come along and say Hello."
Taking part in a sponsored event on our behalf is a simple and direct way of helping us. Visit the fundraising page of our website for some inspiration.

The race, which begins in Jubilee Square at 9am, is organised by Run For All and is part of the of the ‘legacy’ of the late amateur athlete and fundraiser Jane Tomlinson CBE.
According to the Run For All website: "Jane, from Leeds, made headlines around the world by taking part in a series of incredible endurance events – despite being diagnosed with an incurable cancer.
“The mum-of-three defied her devastating diagnosis to complete challenge after challenge – from marathons and triathlons to ironman contests and cross-Europe cycle rides.
“By 2007 her declining health meant she was unable to take part in any more extraordinary undertakings.
"However, using the money she raised on her epic American adventure, Jane was able to sow the seeds for the Run For All Leeds 10K – the cornerstone of what would become her continuing legacy.
“Today that one run has grown into one of the UK’s biggest not-for-profit events companies, providing a fundraising vehicle for a huge number of local and national charities.”
Of the Leicester event, it adds: “With a city centre start and finish, runners will set off from Jubilee Square before heading into the city centre and into the beautiful greenery of Victoria Park.
“The scenic landscape of the park will then weave runners through the University of Leicester before passing many of the city’s landmarks including the Leicester Museum & Art Gallery and Leicester Cathedral.
"Participants will then head back towards the city centre for the electric finish line on Jubilee Square.”
The New Futures Project offers a comprehensive welfare and counselling service for women and young people dealing with sexual abuse or exploitation, domestic violence, trafficking, poverty and debt, substance use or mental ill-health.
